He was an All-American in 1961 and '62 and won the Outland Trophy in '62. He played for the Kansas City Chiefs in both the AFL and NFL; he made the NFL Pro Bowl from 1970-72 and played on the Chiefs' team that beat Minnesota in Super Bowl IV. A member of the College Football Hall of Fame, Bobby owns Bobby Bell's Bar-b-que in Kansas City.
